Gaylord, MI – For two consecutive years now, the Otsego Club and Resort in Gaylord, Michigan has played host to one of the most fun and exciting new motocross venues in the Midwest, known as the Great Lakes Grand Prix. With a continued interest in Michigan Motocross and the positive family values it evokes, the Otsego Club and Resort will be sponsoring a rider support program for 2011 along with its 3rd annual Great Lakes Grand Prix –round #43 on the AMA Pro/Am motocross schedule. The rider support program will provide a means of supplementing an incredible family lifestyle that–in recent history–has fallen victim to a depressed state of the economy.
“For my wife and two young boys, racing motocross here in Michigan is a family affair”, says Osprey COO Jason Biber. “Every weekend we leave the track with a new appreciation for the sport of motocross, as well as all the great people that make the experience possible.”
Biber continues by saying that both Osprey and the Otsego Club and Resort, are excited for the opportunity to continue supporting Michigan Motocross racers and their families. Last year’s sponsored riders included several Michigan racers like Josh Lichtle, Jerry Lorenz, Jacob Grzebinski, and Joey Crown. This year, the Otsego Club will continue its support by giving racers something that really helps their bottom line.
“Discounts are great, but they won’t put gas in your bike, and it won’t cover your race fee at the track”, says Biber. “Otsego Club motocross is providing a real means of supporting motocross racers by putting cash in their pockets.”
Aside from monetary incentives, Otsego Club Motocross is also finalizing arrangements to provide racers with benefits from affiliate businesses, as part of an initiative to promote Michigan-based businesses that support the Michigan Motocross community.
The Otsego Club Motocross rider support program will award 2011 sponsorship to both amateur and pro athletes who race in Michigan as part of their annual race schedule*. Moreover, as part of the application process, riders will be considered at all levels of racing (be it a 50 rider in the 4-6 class, an aspiring professional attempting to qualify for Outdoor Nationals, and everyone in between). Applicants are encouraged to express themselves not only through their racing accomplishments, but also in other areas, such as; academics, personality, background, etc.
All applications and resume materials must be submitted by March 31st, 2011. Shortly thereafter, a team of riders will be announced to represent Otsego Club Motocross as an initiative to support and grow Michigan Motocross.
Thank you and good luck!
*In order to qualify as a “Michigan racer”, applicants must show that they have competed in 5 or more race weekends at a Michigan motocross track as part of their 2010 outdoor motocross season.
Apply for a spot on the Otsego Club Motocross Team and help revitalize Motocross in Michigan by visiting www.OtsegoClubMX.com and submitting your resume.
